Divya Spandana alias Ramya, who is a popular actress in Tamil and Kannada industries, backed out on Sunday from contesting for the post of State Youth Congress president.
Sources in Bengaluru say that her decision to opt out of the race is due to various factors including the smear campaign against her by followers of some senior Congressmen.
Ramya, who contested from booth No 3 of Shantinagar assembly constituency for the post of booth level committee chief, polled eight votes from the booth that had just 14 voters. As a result, Ramya who received the highest number of votes was elected the president of the booth-level Congress party.
At a time when everyone are of the opinion that she would contest for the Youth Congress president’s post apart from trying her mettle in the assembly and Lok Sabha polls for the Congress party, she has stayed out of the polls.
