Ricky Gervais offers Oscars deal

10th November 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ricky Gervais has joked he'll host the Oscars and Golden Globe Awards next year on a "two for one deal".

The comedian presented this year's Golden Globes ceremony, but his brand of sarcastic humour didn't go down well with everyone. He poked fun at many famous members of the audience, some of who seemed uncomfortable throughout the ceremony.

There are rumours he will be returning in 2012, and after Eddie Murphy resigned as next year's Academy Awards host Ricky has come up with a plan.

"I'll do it. I'll do that as well. I'll be in town any way for the Globes," he joked to Access Hollywood. "Exactly, two for one offer. I can knock off 20 per cent. Two for one deal. I'll just stay up there."

Oscars producer Brett Ratner stepped down from his post on Tuesday, with Eddie following suit yesterday. Brian Grazer has signed on to take over from Brett, and is now looking for someone to step into Eddie's shoes.

Ricky has previously admitted he would love to host the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. He isn't sure whether he will land the role though, so is trying not to think about it too much.

"They haven't asked me officially yet, and I don't know whether I'd say yes. It's very tempting," he said. "It's tempting [because] for three hours, I'm the most feared man in LA, so that's nice."

The British star famously teased Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie during this year's awards show, insinuating their movie The Tourist was a flop. He also made a near-the-knuckle comment about Scientology.

It was the second time Ricky hosted the Golden Globes. (C) Cover Media
