(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Rihanna hates it when singers appear in musical movies.

The R&B sensation will make her big screen debut in next years Battleship. The singer stars alongside on-screen brothers Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard in the film, which is based on the adaptation of Hasbros naval combat board game.

The 23-year-old insists shed never do a musical movie because she wants to keep her acting and singing career separate.

Absolutely not. I want to separate the two. I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time because you can never look at them as anybody else, she told the British edition of OK! magazine.

The stunning star says one of the reasons she has taken on acting is for the challenge. She thinks if she played herself in a musical she wouldnt be testing her ability as an actress.

I want to play a character, my whole life is playing Rihanna, being a singer wont be a stretch for me. I like challenges and being an actor is playing a role, being able to step into somebody elses shoes, thats the excitement, she added. (C) Cover Media
