Rooney Mara is frightening' as Salander

25th May 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Christopher Plummer believes that Rooney Mara's "innocence" makes her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo even more alarming.

The rising Hollywood actress, who was born in 1985, stars alongside film icon Christopher, 81, in David Fincher's adaptation of the best-selling novel by late Swedish writer Stieg Larsson.

The movie is set for release later this year and film fans are eager to see fresh-faced Rooney playing the gritty role of crime-solving hacker Lisbeth. Christopher insists moviegoers won't be disappointed with her depiction.

"It's extraordinary," he smiled. "And because she looks so young, it's very frightening. The innocence makes it even more terrifying. She is going to be the most wonderful Tattoo Girl."

Christopher plays retired businessman Henrik Vanger in the picture, and is pleased to say fans of the novel won't be let down by David's interpretation of it. He argues that the moviemaker has captured the essence of the book, which is the first in Stieg's hugely popular Millennium series of crime books.

"It's so loyal to the book that we didn't feel we were cheating or diverting from it at all," he told E! Online.

"David is a marvellous director, and I think he truly has caught the atmosphere of the book." (C) Cover Media
