SAC shown the exit?

12th April 2012

Several elected members of the Tamil Film producers Council (TFPC) have quit their posts and announced the formation of an ad hoc commitee.

Technically, this amounts to breaking away from the previous association and forming a new one. They have decided to hold elections soon for the new association.

Apparently, annoyed with TFPC president S A  Chandrasekaran's decision to hold talks with FEFSI again over wage row, 20 members of TFPC including vice president T G Thyagarajan, secretaries Thenappan and Muralidharan chose to quit from the association.

In a hurriedly convened media briefing thereafter, they announced that they chose to relinquish their posts following the recent developments. A producer on condition of anonimity said, 'the TFPC had decided in its general council meeting not to take part in any dialogue with the FEFSI."

"We started all work to set up our own labour union and shooting has been going on with workers affiliated to the newly formed union. At such a juncture, S A Chandrasekhar's announcement was a violation of the code and conduct of the association" he continued.
