(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sarah Michelle Gellar felt "letdown" with the roles on offer after Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended.
The star enjoyed success with the TV show from 1997 to 2003. Sarah felt disappointed after Buffy had finished, as there was a lack of challenging characters to play.
She is thrilled to be appearing in new TV series Ringer, about a woman who adopts the identity of her twin sister to get out of trouble.
"That was a bit of a letdown for me after Buffy," Sarah told Entertainment Weekly. "I thought, The roles are going to be just like that. You're not going to get stuck playing "the girlfriend" or "the wife," you're going to get these three-dimensional characters.' But truthfully, those roles are very rare. It's a better time for actresses on TV than on film."
Sarah is confident her fans will love Ringer. In the show she plays twins Bridget and Siobhan. Bridget is a former stripper on the run from the mob and the FBI. She decides to steal her married socialite sister's identity after witnessing her apparent death.
"Ringer is the perfect balance of what audiences want to see me do," she explained. "It's Cruel Intentions meets Buffy."
Even though the 34-year-old star loves the TV show, she admits there are some drawbacks. Playing a Manhattan socialite means she has to spend hours in tight fitting clothes and high heels.
"Due to the lack of fight scenes, the fancy footwear comes out," Sarah laughed. "It's beautiful. But you know, fancy footwear is a pain!" (C) Cover Media
