Shraddha gets nominated for singing

12th February 2015

While Priyanka Chopra went on to become an international pop star with her singing talent, Alia Bhatt is taking it slow with one song at a time. However in this race Shraddha Kapoor has beaten Alia, by bagging a nomination for her talent.

She recently sang a Kashmiri folk song called 'Do Jahaan' for 'Haider' and Galliyan for 'EK Villain'.

And not in her wildest dreams did she imagine that she would be nominated for her singing prowess. Her version of the track 'Galliyan' has earned her a nomination in the Best Debut Singer category at an upcoming music awards function.

Though she is famous as Shakti Kapoor's daughter, not many people remember that her family has a musical history too. As a kid, she use to train with her grandfather, Pandharinath Kolhapure, who is a classical singer and also Lata Mangeshkar's cousin.

However, when she decided to be an actress, singing took a backseat. But her deep desires for singing were aroused as she played a singer in 'Aashiqui 2'.

"I am absolutely euphoric. I have always been interested in singing, but I never pursued it; this (nomination) means a lot. I remember mentioning to Mohit during Aashiqui 2 (2013) that I would like to sing and he really encouraged me during Ek Villain," she said.
