(Cover) - EN Movies - Spike Lee is in talks to direct a remake of the thriller Oldboy.
The 54-year-old American moviemaker has enjoyed a prolific career, and is best known for work on films such as Malcolm X and Do the Right Thing.
According to Twitch, director Chan-wook Park's 2003 drama Oldboy is being remade, with Spike in talks to direct.
Oldboy tells the story of a man who has been kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years before being released and discovering he needs to find his captor in five days.
There had been talk of an Oldboy remake a few years ago with Steven Spielberg directing and Will Smith starring, although it was officially cancelled due to issues concerning rights.
Fans of the South Korean original are wary of a remake, although movie insiders believe Spike makes an interesting choice as director.
The original picture starred Min-sik Choi and Ji-tae Yu, and it is not yet known who will star in the remake. (C) Cover Media
