Friendship Vs Love

Apparently to cash in on the success of 'Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi' comes 'Sridhar', a film starring Siddharth in the lead.

It is the Tamil version of his recent Telugu hit 'Oh My Friend', directed by debutant Venu Sriram. A yuppy and urban film, it speaks about friendship between a boy and a girl.

The story goes like this: Chandu (Siddharth) and Siri (Shruti Haasan) are close friends from the days when they were kids. They continue to be good friends for decades and step into college.

One day, Siddharth comes across Ritu (Hansika Motwani) and it is love at first sight for him. Unknowingly, his affair with Hansika creates a gap between him and Shruti. Things take a turn when the marriage of Siri is fixed with Uday (Navdeep).

Siddharth is delightfully different from his previous films; very youthful and composed at once. Not far behind is Shruti, who is trendy and performs well. Navdeep and Hansika fit the bill.
Camera work by Vijay K. Chakravarthy is commendable. Music is one of the assets of the film. Rahul Raj has scored good beats, while Mani Sharma’s background score is interesting. Cinematography by Vijay K. Chakravarthy is excellent, especially in song sequences.

The director handles the script in a mature fashion, despite the fact that the screenplay moves on a snail's pace in the second half. It could have been penned more interesting. The second half seems to be stretching too much for effect. But dialogues fill the gap, as they are contemporary and cool. Produced by Satheesh, Sridhar should do well in multiplexes.
