The Kills: We promote songs to survive

10th April 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jamie Hince admits he finds it hard to allow his bands songs to be featured in popular television shows.

The Kills guitarist has seen the groups classic songs being used in the soundtracks for major US shows such as Gossip Girl and 90210. The musician admits he had major reservations about selling their music to the highest bidder, but feels the positives far outweigh the negatives.

I do some of these things with a heavy heart, but its the old question of how do you survive? If its a choice of promoting the band or a day job, obviously youll choose the thing you love doing, he told Q magazine.

The bands other member Alison Mosshart elaborated on the decision, confirming it made good business sense to form links with a show as popular as Gossip Girl. The star went on to add their decision had no impact on the bands credibility, which she believes remains as strong as ever.

Gossip Girl was a cool little show which hardly got any attention and now its become this cult thing. Im a big fan, I know the cast, I love it. Times have changed. Its not a question of bands selling out any more, she added. (C) Cover Media
