Tim Burton avoids mirrors

23rd November 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Tim Burton hates introspection so much he wont even look at himself in the mirror.

The film director has enjoyed a blistering career, helming a string of successful movies including Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow and Alice in Wonderland. He has a cult fan base, which is part of the reason an exhibition of artwork linked to his movies is currently being held at New Yorks Museum of Modern Art.

Tim still cant believe the event is being staged, and says it has made him think seriously about his career for the first time in a long while.

It kind of forced me to look at myself, which I don't do very often. I even avoid mirrors as I walk by them, he said. It was a bit of a surprise in a good way. It did make me more reflective. You know, as you go on in life, there are less and less surprises - especially nice surprises, so it's really, really great to feel surprised in a good way.

Tim is currently discussing plans to stage Alice in Wonderland on Broadway with other industry professionals. Hes always dreamed of being involved with a huge American theatre production, and is excited about the idea.

I'm talking to them about that just because there was a seedling of an idea that I thought was interesting, he told MTV. I don't know how far it will go, but it's something. I've always kind of wanted to do something live onstage. I'm just going to explore it and see what happens. (C) Cover Media
