Vidya Balan is the one chosen to depict the 70's south siren Silk Smitha's life on the silver screen, in Ekta Kapoor's production 'The Dirty Picture'. The actress has got into the skin of the character by getting into skimpy clothes to flaunt her assets, a signature look of Silk Smitha� the sex bomb. The actress was still hesitant to be seen on screen with that look and was nervous about it. That's when Director Milan Luthria stepped in as her savior.

The Director convinced Vidya Balan with loads of talks in the sessions and workshops that they attended, in order to get the character right. Milan�even made�Vidya watch films like�'Chicago'�and�'Burlesque' that portray women with a strong and overt body language. Following this, Vidya worked intensely on the film for nothing less than two months. She attended various workshops and even read a lot about varied actor's on-off screen lives. She even had spent time with her co-stars Tusshar Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah, by reading the script over and over again along with them.

Apart from doing all the preparation, she had also sought God's blessing before shooting for the film and she had organized a small 'Puja' on the sets before they kick started the shoot.
