Wendi McLendon-Covey tries not to "resent" the bride when she's been asked to be a bridesmaid.

The American actress starred in the hit comedy film Bridesmaid this year, alongside Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy and Maya Rudolph.

Wendi has recalled her own experiences of being part of the bridal party.

"I've been a bridesmaid seven times! Believe me, I made all of those girls be in my own wedding. Most of the time it's really torturous to do it - the endless rounds of parties and stupid things you have to do," she explained in an interview with the UK edition of OK! magazine.

"I'm just like, Tell me what colour dress to buy and I'll show up on the day and try not to resent you.'"

Wendi has been happily married to Greg Covey since 1996. The star says her spouse is very tolerant with her at times.

"He is quite perfect," she stated. "He's off getting my breakfast as we speak. I don't know why he stays with me I'm a pain in the butt. We've been married for 15 years."
