Will Ferrell to receive comedy award

15th September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jack Black is among the stars who will pay tribute to Will Ferrell when he is awarded a top comedy prize.

It was announced in May that the US funnyman is to receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. He's being bestowed with the honour on October 31 at The Kennedy Center in Washington and now details of the ceremony have been announced.

Jack, Conan O'Brien, Maya Rudolph, Molly Shannon and Larry King will all perform on the night.

Organisers have also asked many of Will's former co-stars to take part in the presentation. He worked with Adam McKay on Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Talladega Nights, and The Other Guys and he will be making an appearance.

Other guests include Paul Rudd, Green Day and John C. Reilly.

Will is famed for his impressions, many of which he's wowed with while appearing on American television show Saturday Night Live. His take on former US President George W. Bush was particularly popular and even spawned a Broadway show in 2009 called You're Welcome America: A final night with George W. Bush.

Will is thrilled to be receiving the prestigious honour and began planning for the ceremony several months ago.

"I am truly honoured to receive this distinction. I will now begin cultivating a Mark Twain-esque moustache in anticipation of the event," he said in May.

The prize has previously gone to stars including Steve Martin, Tina Fey and Bill Cosby. (C) Cover Media
