Zac Efron regretted buying "funny hats" for everyone involved in his new movie because his looked so bad.

The actor plays Logan Thibault in The Lucky One, about a marine who starts searching for the mystery woman he thinks helped him through three tours of Iraq.

The film's director was renowned for wearing unusual headwear during the shoot, so Zac decided to poke fun at him.

"We bought funny hats for everyone because our director, Scott Hicks, wore this really cool hat every day. Mine was a ten gallon cowboy hat, which didn't look that great," he laughed.

Taylor Schilling portrays Zac's character's love interest in the movie. Although he has previously admitted finding it hard to watch their raunchy scenes with his mom, filming them was another matter.

"I think we needed that scene it was so built up so we were ready for it and it was really fun to shoot," he told Look magazine. "I had the best time working with Taylor."
