Zooey Deschanel's friends are reportedly hoping she "treats herself to some time off" before too long.

The American actress appears in TV show New Girl and is also part of the band She & Him. She recently admitted her hectic work schedule has taken its toll on her and she has been feeling exhausted lately.

Those close to her are encouraging her to take some time off to focus on herself.

"The good news about Zooey is that she's as clean as a whistle. She doesn't even really drink. With filming coming to an end soon, everyone hopes she'll see sense and treat herself to some time off. Everyone is supporting her and letting her know they're here for her," a source told Look magazine.

The actress has been working on the comedy programme for seven months and is in most of the scenes, which is said to have added to her stress levels.

Show bosses have now taken steps to reassure her they are taking her feelings seriously.

"The production team on New Girl have brought in a doctor to be on hand in case of an emergency, which must be a reassurance to Zooey," the insider explained.
