Actor A.K Hangal: Given Help By MNS Cine Workers Association Chief

20th January 2011

January 20, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): A.K Hangal, the veteran actor who has worked in more than 200 films in Bollywood in the past 50 years is going through quite a tough time in real life due to age related problems.

According to news reports the veteran actor 95, who has enacted the role of a father, grandfather and great grandfather on screen to innumerable actors and stars, has no one by his side as he lies quietly in a bed in his flat in SanataCruz East in Mumbai.

Most amazingly no one has even called him to find out whether he is leading a proper and healthy life or not. Reports suggest that his son Vijay who is 75 is bed ridden too as he suffered from severe back problems and had to leave his work as a still photographer in B Town.

Thus with both father and son duo lying in bed with a monthly bill of Rs.15.000 and above for medicines they are in a state of absolute penury.

The duo has to pick between food and medical bills which was a plight that caught the attention of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Cine Workers Association.

Thus to help the veteran Bollywood folk , the chief of the MNSCWA chief shri Ameya Khopkar reportedly handed over a cheque of Rs.51.000 to the ailing father-son duo. Indeed this kind gesture towards such great veterans is quite a good one. More and more people should come forth to help such genuine citizens.
