(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Adele has joked she was over the limit for most of her driving lessons.

The 22-year-old British singer has been overwhelmed by the reaction to her new album 21. The record was inspired by the end of a relationship, and she says the response has helped her begin to get over the love split.

Despite saying that penning tracks for her album was therapeutic during her distressing break-up, the talented musician has admitted learning to drive at the same time didnt quite have the same effect.

Since we last spoke in amongst writing the record and recovering from the Grammys I learned to drive, but that didnt really work, she told People. Apparently Im a very spatially-aware, considerate driver, according to my driving instructor. I didnt keep up my lessons. I was recovering from a severe break-up so I was drinking a lot, so I imagine I was over the limit for most of my lessons!

The British singer is currently promoting 21, her second album, in America. It has received critical acclaim, and she has previously credited her break-up as the sole inspiration behind the album.

It broke my heart when I wrote this record, so the fact that people are taking it to their hearts is like the best way to recover. It's going to take me ten years to recover, I think, from the way I feel about my last relationship," she said. (C) Cover Media
