A Court in Chennai on Wednesday rejected an anticipatory bail petition filed by actress Alphonsa, over the death of her boyfriend and aspiring actor Vinod Kumar under 'mysterious circumstances' at her flat in Virugambakkam in Chennai.

Principal District and Sessions Judge P Kalaiyarasan, in his order, said Alphonsa's petition could not be entertained as police inquiry was pending.

A couple of weeks ago, Alphonsa who scaled the popularity chart with her item number Ra Ra Ramaiah with Superstar Rajinikanth in Baasha, attempted suicide after finding her beau Vinod Kumar hanging from the fan at her apartment.

Relatives rushed her to a private hospital on Arcot Road, where her condition was declared stable. Vinod's father has expressed suspicions over his death. He lodged a complaint with the Police Commissioner, saying it could be a case of murder.
