Two groups of producers are at a war of words over the leadership of Tamil Film Producers Council, one of the most influential bodies of Kollywood.
While the rebels have formed an ad hoc committee under the chairmanship of Ibrahim Rowther and claimed that they had sacked S A Chandrasekar from the president post, those close to SAC said he continues to be the president of the Council.
"S A Chandrasekar acted against the interest of the producers. Hence he is suspended from the primary membership of the Council for six months. Fresh elections will be conducted for the TFPC," team members of Ibrahim Rowther said.
However, those owing allegiance to Chandrasekar said, "SAC is still the president of the council. The general body meeting conducted by rebels is invalid. How could they conduct such a meeting without the presence of the existing president?"
