(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Charlie Sheen has been fired from Two and a Half Men, with show bosses fearful of his recent dangerously self-destructive behaviour.
The Hollywood star has sparked fears for his mental health lately, after he gave a string of bizarre interviews. He has been receiving rehab at home since January, meaning his show Two and a Half Men went on hiatus. He slammed the shows producer Chuck Lorre as well as Network CBS and production company Warner Bros. for their decision to halt production, causing the shows current season to be cancelled.
Charlie went on to give a series of interviews in which he accused Chuck, CBS and Warner Bros. of using him and making him poor by cutting the series, and has even spoken of suing for as much as $320 million. He has also blasted Alcoholics Anonymous and his father Martin Sheen for saying he has a disease, and spoken of his relationship with two women.
Yesterday, Warner Bros. confirmed they had fired Charlie from the show, following speculation about whether it will return without him. After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen's services on Two and a Half Men, effective immediately, they said.
The dismissal came after the company sent a letter to Charlies attorney Marty Singer, detailing their reasons for getting rid of the actor. The document was obtained by TMZ, and is 11 pages long, and also featured ten pages of links to stories about Charlies behaviour over recent weeks.
At the outset let us state the obvious: Your client has been engaged in dangerously self-destructive behaviour and appears to be very ill...
It is clear that [Sheen] has no intention of agreeing to the intensive evaluation and treatment that his condition requires, it reads. It is also clear he does not believe he has a problem and that he will continue to conduct himself in a destructive manner.
The letter details the way the firm has tried to aid Charlie. It states bosses spoke to his family, allowed him to take leave and also arranged for a private plane to be at his disposal so he could go to rehab.
Regrettably, Mr. Sheen failed to continue with his rehabilitation program, it reads. The result has been a series of well-chronicled and increasingly erratic outbursts that have culminated with Mr. Sheen's public tirades of the last few weeks.
It is also alleged the star became thinner, missed rehearsal and didnt always know his lines. He is accused of poisoning key working relationships with his outbursts, which are felony offenses involving moral turpitude. These are all the reasons given for Warner Bros. deciding to end their working relationship with the star.
Charlies lawyer Marty called the reasons absurd and ridiculous. We feel this is nothing more than Lorre flexing his muscles and we intend to respond accordingly, he said.
There are claims Charlie plans to retaliate by suing both Warner Bros. and producer Chuck, who he reportedly feels is behind the decision to fire him.
Charlie has also blasted the decision personally, claiming he heard he had lost his job via text message. He insists the company should feel devastated at the way they have behaved, as he was instrumental in the success of Two and a Half Men.
I got a text or something. Heres another thing these guys are such yellow cockroaches that they didnt even have the decency to call me, he told Access Hollywood. I put five bill[ion] in their cheap suit pockets and another half a bil in whats-his-cheeses pockets and this is the respect I get? Its just deplorable and they should be ashamed of themselves!
Whatever. I guess if you cant process a guy, or realise his value, you must terminate him. Thats real high-brow thinking, really evolved thinking. I dont know. It is what it is.
They exercised such a cheap move and [this is] so silly and so transparent and its so juvenile. It is the work of infants. It is the work of silly infants and its just if this is what it had to come to, to get me out of those silly shirts, then so be it. So maybe Ill wear one, just on the final day when I go and remove all of their bazillions.
After hearing he had been fired Charlie climbed to the top of a building in Beverly Hills, waved around machete and spoke of feeling free. He is said to be considering staging a theatre show around America. (C) Cover Media
