The SRK-Akki war ends

12th June 2013

It had been reported earlier that Ekta Kapoor would be releasing her film 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Again' on the same Eid weekend as Rohit Shetty's 'Chennai Express'. This news, indeed, infuriated Shah Rukh Khan. But now, it has been confirmed by sources that Ekta has decided to change the release date of her film to August 15.

Insiders also say that Ekta agreed with her close friends in the Bollywood fraternity that both the films releasing on the same weekend might be like playing an unwanted gamble, and the box office could go either ways in terms of profits.

Eyebrows were raised as to why Ekta moved the release date forward, and sources close to Balaji Telefilms stated that the team of 'Chennai Express' had approached Jitendra and requested him to reconsider the release dates. He then had a meeting with the Balaji team and they decided to change the release date of their film.

However, the revised release date will clash with the release of Subhash Ghai's 'Kaanchi'. With no competition in its first week, it seems like 'Chennai Express' will go full steam forward on August 8.
