Christopher Mintz-Plasse: Vampires are fun

19th August 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Christopher Mintz-Plasse thinks vampires are "fun" and enjoys playing "evil and dark" roles.

The American actor, who is best known for his roles in Superbad, Role Models and Kick-Ass, is starring in horror remake Fright Night.

The 22-year-old star plays Ed in the film, a convert to the vampire bloodsucking lifestyle. Although he came into the project thinking vampire narratives were a bit tiresome, he grew to love the role.

"Now I get it, why people play vampires," he told MTV News. "I'm like, there've been vampire movies. [But] that was really a lot of fun to do."

Christopher has revealed the most memorable part about portraying his character. He thoroughly enjoyed the more sinister elements of his persona.

"It was cool to play something evil and dark," Christopher said.

The film's director, Craig Gillespie, thinks Christopher's sentiments about his dark role are typical. In his opinion, many actors love to dig deep into the dark side.

"It's one of those things that actors love to do, because you're getting to play sort of an iconic kind of character that has all this history with them. You get to have a lot of fun with it," Gillespie explained.

Fright Night is now out in theatres. (C) Cover Media
