Dolce & Gabbana debut sensual collection

27th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Fashion - Dolce & Gabbana showed an almost entirely white collection at Milan Fashion Week yesterday, which was inspired by Italy.

Last week, the designers showed their D&G diffusion line which was based on the rural idyll. The clothes were relaxed and came in patterned fabric, and couldnt have been more different to the Spring/Summer collection for their main line.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana showed the kind of sexy aesthetic they are most famous for, with skin tight underwear paired with white lace. Its the sensual kind of elegance and tradition that characterises the typical trousseau of Southern Italy, the designers explained.

Lace was one of the key fabrics in the collection, used in floor-sweeping gowns, shift dresses and playsuits. Even pencil skirts were decorated with the fabric, as were the wedge-heeled shoes donned by the models.

While most of the range was white, the designers gave a nod to previous collections by including a flash of leopard print and several sexy black outfits.

Pucci also showed over the weekend, with Kylie Minogue in attendance. Many of the looks were blue, such as the chiffon dress model Freja Beha Erichsen wore to open the show. The patterns the fashion house is famed for were given a modern twist and paired with low-cut blouses and leather jackets with fringing.

Suede chaps came down the runway with leather waistcoats, adding to the sense of a Wild West theme. It was the same at the Just Cavalli debut, where models wore denim shifts and jean shorts.

Fringing also appeared at the show, along with pieces dripping sequins, pearls and jewel embellishments.

Bright blue leather trousers were decorated with green leaves, while yellow biker jackets dripped in fringing. It was the 40th anniversary of the Just Cavalli label, and designer Roberto Cavalli seemed intent on making the celebration go with a bang.

Other fashion houses to show in Milan over the weekend included Bottega Venata, Emporio Armani, Max Mara and Jil Dander. The debuts draw to a close today, with Dsquared2, Roberto Cavalli, Missoni and Versus all showing. Paris Fashion Week starts later this week. (C) Cover Media
