(Cover) - EN Showbiz - George Michael says his late mother told him he wasn't "ready" to die during his battle with pneumonia.
The 49-year-old singer was hospitalised while on tour in Vienna last year. He was critically ill and was unconscious for three weeks. George has revealed his mom encouraged him to fight for his life during this troubled time.
"I would like to focus on the fantastic good fortune I had in dodging the bullet, as it were. In that strange place between life and death I was definitely feeling my mother kind of basically saying, Don't you dare come and meet me yet, I am not ready and you are not ready,'" the star said during an interview for UK TV show Lorraine.
George was left devastated when his mother Lesley Angold died from cancer in 1997.
He is currently promoting his new single White Light, to celebrate his return to health and to thank fans for their support.
Kate Moss appears in the promo for the track, where she is seen saving George's life.
George has explained why the stunning supermodel was the perfect choice for the music video.
"I wanted someone who would represent the most beautiful woman in the world, and as far as I am concerned that is how I remember my mother, as being the most beautiful woman in the world. In a strange way, Kate represents my mother, you know," he added.
"White Light is my way of thanking fate and my fans all at once, I suppose."
George also confirmed he will be performing a "couple of tracks" at the closing ceremony for the London Olympic Games.
The release of White Light also coincides with the 30th anniversary of Wham! releasing their debut record Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do).
Although George has fond memories of being in the pop duo with Andrew Ridgeley, he insists a reunion is unlikely to take place.
"I don't think that is going to happen, I'm afraid. I think one of the reasons it gets talked about so much is because people want it so much and everybody else has done it," he explained. "Who hasn't got back together? Both Andrew and I appreciate everyone's desire to see us on stage together again, but I don't think it's going to happen." (C) Cover Media
