Heigl's mom threatened to send her to convent

3rd January 2012

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Katherine Heigl's mother kept a tight leash on her daughter when she was younger by threatening to send her to a Swiss nunnery.

The Hollywood actress had a 1am curfew because her mother Nancy wanted to keep her out of trouble.

In an interview with Elle magazine, Nancy revealed her tactics which worked for a while.

"Kate believed it for a very, very long time, and that's the most important thing," she said. "We go to Switzerland. We go to the bottom of the mountain. We take away all her clothes, we put her in a cloth sack, we put her on a donkey and send her up to the top of the mountain, where she doesn't get to talk to anybody on a regular basis but will occasionally get a letter from me saying, How you doing?'"

But the 33-year-old blonde beauty, who is now married to musician Josh Kelley and is mother to Naleigh, says she soon realised her mother wouldn't carry out her threats.

"I had this boyfriend, and we were really serious," Katie explained. "I'd be over at this house and it would come around one, and I'd be like, I gotta go. I got this curfew.' One night he just looked at me and was like, What the hell is wrong with you?'" (C) Cover Media
