Britains Prince William announced he had proposed to his long-term girlfriend last week, with the pair confirming they will wed on Friday April 29 next year at Westminster Abbey in London.
They staged a photocall after the engagement announcement, to which Kate wore a navy blue Issa dress which complimented her sapphire and diamond engagement ring that had belonged to Williams mother, the late Princess Diana perfectly.
After she was seen in the frock it sold out, despite costing 349. High street stores then clamoured to quickly create replicas, with food store Tesco debuting their 16 Florence & Fred version online yesterday. The cheap dress was so popular it was completely sold out within just one hour.
Kate Middleton looked extremely elegant in her choice of outfit and many women wanted to find a high street replica of this now iconic dress, Tesco buying director Jan Marchant told Marie Claire. The rate at which the dress sold out online is testament to how influential Kates style choices are.
The Tesco version is a bit different from the original as it is shorter and has different sleeves, but still has the wraparound style. More stocks will hit the site soon.
With the royal wedding only months away, speculation about what some of the guests might wear is rife. It has been suggested Princess Beatrice would suit a metallic frock, while her mother the Duchess of York has been advised to choose a bright blue number. (C) Cover Media
