Jon Hamm is much more "goofy" than people think.

The star makes women swoon as suave Don Draper in the TV series Mad Men and was voted Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine in 2008. However, he doesn't think he's that handsome.

"I'm no George Clooney," he laughed.

The 40-year-old added that when he looks in the mirror he only sees "my goofy-ass self from when I was a kid."

Jon also offered up some examples of actors he thinks should be ladies' favourites.

"I look at the people in the world that I consider truly handsome, like Clooney, Brad Pitt, Ryan Reynolds, Brad Cooper those guys," he told British magazine Elle.

Jon is continually photographed by the same person when he leaves his house. He insists there is a simple reason for this.

"He has to take my picture every time I'm putting change in the meter," he joked.

Jon's comments come ahead of the fifth season of Mad Men which begins in late March.
