The 24-year-old is best known for her role in hit American series Gossip Girl where she plays affluent Blair Waldorf. As a result of the role, Leighton has become a style icon because of the incredible outfits paraded on the show. The actress isnt as groomed as her character in real life though - she steers clear of manicures as she feels that they arent practical living when living in New York.

New Yorkers walk everywhere. Your feet get beaten up and need regular pedicures I get a hot stone massage with mine. Im less bothered about my hands, as I hate it when manicures chip. I usually go natural or buffed, or use a shade that looks clean, she told British InStyle.

Leighton, who is set to release a studio album in 2011, also revealed that she sometimes hates putting effort into her appearance. The former face of cosmetic brand Clearasil will often use products that compliment her natural skin tones to make up for any perceived blemishes.

Sometimes, Ill feign effort by putting on lipstick. I hate it when red shades wear off, so I use Tom Fords Pure pink, which looks natural as it fades, she said. (C) Cover Media
