Malayalam super star Mohanlal, was granted bail by a Kerala court in a defamation case filed against him by leading writer and literary critic, Sukumar Azhikode.

The Thrissur chief judicial magistrate granted him bail on the basis of two sureties. A huge crowd had gathered after news spread that the top actor was to appear in court. Mohanlal prayed to the court for an in-camera trial and exemption from appearing in person. The suit was filed for the actor's reported comment that the writer was suffering from 'hallucinations'.

The actor said Azhikode must be having some 'hallucination' and that he considered Azhikode's words as some 'aged uncle's joke'.
