Sir Elton John: I want people to cover my songs

11th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sir Elton John loves it when people cover his songs, even if their version is no good.

The legendary singer is a big fan of new music, and recently said he hopes to team up with Lady Gaga for a duet in the future. The 63-year-old would be equally as keen for her to record a version of one of his classic tracks, explaining he enjoys hearing new artists put their own stamp on his tunes.

Its always great when someone covers your songs, no matter how good or bad the version is, he explained. You know, I started out as a songwriter, so I always get a kick out of that.

Elton hinted he is hoping American musical drama Glee might consider using his back catalogue in one of their episodes. The show is famous for basing programmes around singers, with Britney Spears appearing in the second season, and although Elton hasnt been approached yet it is something he would be happy to consider.

I love Glee, but no, no, no, he laughed to Entertainment Weekly, when asked if he is going to be on the show. Of course, Id be into that.

Although nothing is in the pipeline yet, Elton has met at least one of the stars of the programme. He is planning to work with Matthew Morrison, who plays teacher Will Schuester, on his upcoming album, something Elton is looking forward to.

[Matthew and I] had a little meeting together, so hopefully thats going to happen when I get to L.A., he said (C) Cover Media
