Tony Scott honoured in private service

25th August 2012

Tony Scott was remembered in a private funeral service in Los Angeles on Friday.

The acclaimed film director jumped to his death from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in California on Sunday.

Family members and friends attended the ceremony, where they honoured Scott's life. Older brother Ridley Scott was also in attendance according to US website TMZ.

The Hollywood director flew in from London the day after news of his younger sibling's death.

Scott's family released their first statement since his passing this week, revealing plans to pay a more public tribute to the Top Gun director once their family service had taken place.

"The family will announce plans after Labor Day for a gathering to celebrate the life and work of Mr. Scott. Details will be forthcoming once they are formalised," the statement read.

There has been speculation as to why Scott decided to end his life, with reports claiming he was had inoperable brain cancer. However, Los Angeles County Coroner's chief investigator Craig Harvey confirmed that the director's family told investigators that the information was "incorrect".

Los Angeles County coroner spokesman Ed Winters told the Hollywood Reporter that Scott left two separate notes for his family and friends.

"There was a suicide note to loved ones and a list with several names and numbers," Winter revealed.
