'Vettai Mannan', starring Silambarasan in the lead role, started rolling a few days ago in Chennai. The shooting was done at Binny Mills and there is a small break for the film, as Silambarasan will start filming his other project titled 'Vosthi'. The film is a remake of the Hindi movie 'Dabangg' that had Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Arbaaz Khan in lead roles.

The Tamil remake will have Silambarasan enacting that role of Salman Khan, while Richa Gangopadhyay has been brought in from the Telugu film industry to play the female lead role. Jithan Ramesh will perform the role that was enacted by Arbaaz Khan in the original version.

Thamman has been signed for scoring the music and Dharani will direct the film. The shooting will go on for the next couple of months at a stretch, following which Simbhu will resume the shooting for 'Vettai Mannan'.
