Will Ferrell cherishes gold helicopter

5th October 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Will Ferrell has joked that he could never part with his gold plated helicopter.

The actor was discussing his new movie Everything Must Go at a BAFTA Life in Pictures event, held in his honour.

The comedy drama follows a man who decides to sell all his worldly possessions in a yard sale on his front lawn.

Will admitted that if he were forced to sell everything in real life there was one belonging he couldn't bear to part with.

"I probably wouldn't want to sell my helicopter," he told Cover Media at the event in London yesterday. "My gold plated helicopter, for sure."

The funny man was surprised and flattered to be asked to discuss his body of work with BAFTA - British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

However, he was slightly uncomfortable with so much focus on him.

"It's always slightly awkward to talk about yourself in a way," he considered. "But it should be fun. I think. They'll probably try to make me cry."

In the past BAFTA have honoured writers, directors, producers and actors with A Life in Pictures. These include Quentin Tarantino, Meryl Streep and Colin Firth.

Will was privileged to be counted among so many great talents.

He was particularly proud of being recognised for a film that took him outside of the comedy box.

"It's a great list, I hope they don't second guess it or take me off the list," he joked. "It's nice to have a film like this recognised it is a different type of film for me to do. But I loved getting to do something different. It's not something that I'm offered a lot of. I thought it was such a great script and a unique interesting premise. It's just great to play an ordinary guy in a crazy situation."

Will is well known for improvising many of the lines in his comedy films.

But when asked which of his characters was most like him the 44-year-old only jokingly hinted at any real life similarities.

"I am chauvinist pig, so for sure it's Ron Burgundy [I'm most like]," he quipped. "I think that's why it's so fun to get to go outside yourself and do outlandish comedy characters because they aren't like yourself. It's my license to act like a kid. That's my job." (C) Cover Media
