Diljit Dosanjh starrer 'Soorma' which is a biopic on Indian Hockey legend Sandeep Singh had a mild start at the box-office but the film picked up strongly on Saturday and Sunday. Diljit took everyone by surprise and fired a drag flick in audiences heart and the film has earned raving reviews from the critics as well.

Starting off with 3.02 cr on Friday, the film registered a staggering growth by minting 5.05 cr on Saturday and 5.60 cr on Sunday. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news via his tweet that read "#Soorma has a decent weekend... Considering the low start on Fri morning, the biz did escalate over the weekend, but the jump on Sun wasn't substantial enough... Maintaining the pace on weekdays is important... Fri 3.20 cr, Sat 5.05 cr, Sun 5.60 cr. Total: ₹ 13.85 cr. India biz."

The film also featured Taapsee Pannu as the female lead and the love interest of Diljit in this sports biographical film. Talking about the film and his character portrayal of Sandeep Singh, Diljit said, "Sandeep paaji is a Soorma in the true sense. The story of his life and his comeback is the one which I haven’t ever heard or read anywhere. He is a living legend, I feel everyone should follow just one mantra in life, you should not beat yourself up in life because until and unless you do not give up, there is nobody who can defeat you."
