Angelina Jolie honoured

14th February 2012

Angelina Jolie was honoured at the Cinema for Peace Gala last night.

The 36-year-old actress turned director was recognised for her movie In the Land of Blood And Honey on the fifth day of the Berlin International Film Festival.

Cinema for Peace highlights films that are about human rights abuses and genocides which Angelina's film covers.

Angelina's partner Brad Pitt looked very proud of the mother of his six children and beamed in delight as she accepted her prize.

The Tourist star said that she hoped her directorial debut will encourage a more open dialogue about rape and bring perpetrators to justice.

Angelina said earlier in the festival that she was eagerly anticipating the movie's premiere in Sarajevo which will occur this week.

Her film is about a Serbian soldier who finds his ex-girlfriend, a Muslim Bosnian, in a camp for sex slaves during the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia.

"I'm nervous and I'm excited," she told reporters. "I'll probably cry through the entire thing.

"I'll be very, very moved because, of course, a lot of the people coming are the victims of war so it's going to be heavy."
