Jason Isaacs: Potter movies were never exploitative

(Cover) - EN Movies - Jason Isaacs is relieved that the Harry Potter franchise never became "exploitative".

The 48-year-old British actor is famed for his portrayal of villainous wizard Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movie franchise, whose final instalment Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is being premiered in London today before its international release next week.

Jason says the Harry Potter movies really stands apart for him in relation to his other acting roles, as it has been so well received by fans over the years. The actor argues that because the original books by author J.K. Rowling had been so adored, the film series could have run into dangerous territory.

"They stand aside from every other series of films that I've seen or been involved with because they are adored by the people who watch them, who have read the books, who still love the films which is an odd thing, and by us who have made them.

"So I'm glad it's come to an end without any of it turning a little bit exploitative," he told UK television show Daybreak.

Jason added that one of the most striking things for him about the wizard franchise was just how much passion everybody had. The actor never got the impression any of his colleagues were involved in the money purely for financial gain.

"It sounds bizarre and perverse and maybe laughable but I have not experienced anyone involved in making these films from the actors to the producers and writers and director, who is doing it at all cynically to make money.

"It's not that we don't do other jobs for those things but there's something about how much we revere and love the characters and the story, it's what drives everybody," he enthused. (C) Cover Media
