Lindsay Lohan planning New York move

13th August 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lindsay Lohan is planning to move to New York when she leaves rehab.

The actress recently served 14 days of a 90-day prison sentence after she was found to have violated the terms of her probation following her 2007 conviction for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Upon leaving the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, California, on August 2, Lindsay was taken directly to the UCLA Medical Center to complete a court-ordered 90-day rehab stint.

Lindsay’s mother Dina Lohan has supported her throughout her legal problems, and has revealed the star is considering moving back to New York, where she was raised, once she is a free woman.

“She'll be coming back to New York. California is a wonderful state," she said, “but it's a different game you play there, the court system is a little different.”

Dina said Lindsay coped with her time inside well, and is now doing “wonderfully”. She again hinted she thought the sentence laid down by Judge Marsha Revel – who removed herself from the case this week – was too harsh, and said she was proud of the actress for accepting it.

“She's great. She's been through a lot,” Dina told TV show Today co-host Matt Lauer. “The judge played hardball. Lindsay was in with alleged murderers and she's become friends with a lot of them. Lindsay rolled with the punches and she's doing wonderfully.”

Dina blasted those who think Lindsay, 24, deserved the jail term, insisting much of what is written about her daughter’s party lifestyle is exaggerated. She admitted she doesn’t always agree with Lindsay’s choices, but says she has raised her in the best way she knows how.

“As a parent, you have to let her go a little bit,” she said. “When she went out to Los Angeles when she was 19, I had to let her go and let her live and fall and fail and survive. Without failure, there's no success. I was there in close proximity, but you can't make your child not go out and go to a club and not get behind the wheel of a car. I certainly don't condone any of that behaviour.”

There have been reports Lindsay may be released from the treatment facility early, although no solid confirmation has been given. (C) Cover Media
