Majid Gulistan Likely To File Plea Against Jury Decision!

24th September 2010

Malayalam film director Majid Gulistan is thinking to take legal action against the decision of juries of National Award. The children's film director's movie Chithrakuzhal was competing in the Best Children's Film Awards section but it was won by Sivan, father of renowned filmmaker Santosh Sivan.

Gulistan has consulted with the legal authorities to file a petition against this discrimination and foul play behind this reputed award. He has a valid point to raise question as one of the jury member has already criticized Keshu being the remake of his earlier film titled Pularvettam that released in 2002.

As per the rules of the award at state and national level, no dubbed or remade version of another film, can qualify to contest for the awards.

Gulistan was quoted saying that the influence of the director Sivan is a well known fact and, adding to this, his son Sanjeev Sivan was a in the selection committee of National Awards at the regional level. He has also questioned the inclusion of Sanjeev in the jury because he is neither a person with excellence in art and literary field nor a National Award winner.

On the other hand, the Gulistan directed movie Chithrakuzhal is a sincere effort on environment and forests which, many believe, deserves to get the award. The movie will be released next month.
