Javier Bardem: Im not a greedy actor

6th December 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Javier Bardem claims he didnt make his latest movie in English because he would have been accused of doing it for the money.

The 41-year-old Spanish actor has just released his new film Biutiful, which is spoken in Spanish but uses English subtitles.

The plot of the film centres on a single father named Uxbal, (Javier) who attempts to make amends with his ex-partner to secure a future for his children after he realises he might soon face death.

Javier admitted that he didnt want to remake the film in English because he didnt want to be accused of greed.

"This film I did completely in Spanish with English subtitles," he told the New York Post. "And why didn't I redo the whole thing all in the English language? Because then people would say I only did that to make money."

The handsome actor - who is married to Penelope Cruz - nearly missed the New York premiere of his new film due to a storm.

He was flying from Barcelona in Spain to the US when his flight was held up because of bad weather.

Jokingly, he divulged that this behaviour mirrors that of his character in the film. "A guy who's late," he quipped when asked what kind of role he plays in the movie. (C) Cover Media
