(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Zac Efron gets embarrassed meeting old casting directors who remember him being a really s**t actor.

The 22-year-old heartthrob is best known for his role in the High School Musical franchise, which also starred his real-life girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.

Zac says he feels he has really grown as an actor since he made his television debut in the early 2000s, and he has gone on to play serious roles in films such as Me and Orson Welles and Charlie St. Cloud.

Despite making the transition into more grown-up roles, the star says he gets embarrassed when he runs into casting directors he met earlier in his career because he recalls being quite a bad actor.

I go, Ooh you saw me when I was a really s**t actor. And they always look at me like, Yeah I know what you were like, laughed Zac in an interview with the Australian radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O.

The modest star added that he really struggled to launch his career before getting his break in High School Musical.

I couldnt even get into the auditions early on it was hard to get onto any film at all or any TV show, he lamented.

Nowadays Zac doesnt have any problems securing auditions, and is one of Hollywoods most in-demand actors.

The star has a legion of adoring fans who worship him for his handsome looks, and even Zac admits he notices hes a good-looking guy when he dresses up for red carpet events.

The only time I really go there is after a premiere and you look in the mirror and you kinda go yeah, you know what... laughed Zack, adding, I dont think it often though. (C) Cover Media
