Rowther's plea rejected

27th April 2012

A petition filed by Ibrahim Rowther, Tamil Film Producers Council's ad hoc committee Chairman, has been dismissed by the Madras High Court.

Accepting the public prosecutor's explanation that the police department is monitoring the situation and things were under control, the High Court rejected Rowther's plea. The prosecutor also said that it was impossible to provide protection whenever Rowther and his men come to the TFPC office.

He had filed the petition seeking a direction to the police department to provide adequate security to him and his supporters after they sacked the Producer Council’s President S A Chandrasekaran

In his petition, Rowther said the police officials did not take any step to provide them with security cover, even after they lodged a complaint a few days back. 'Hence I request the court to issue an order in this regard to the police,' he said.

According to Rowther and his supporters, SAC and those owing allegiance to him were planning an attack on them, by hiring goons.
