Last week witnessed the clash of the titans as two big films released on the same day. 'Rustom' starring Akshay Kumar and 'Mohenjo Daro' starring Hrithik Roshan released on August 12, 2016 and as expected it was 'Rustom' who made a grand entry at the box-office.
While the whole trade industry was geared up for the mega clash, the viewers marched their footsteps towards 'Rustom' while 'Mohenjo Daro' failed to fulfil their expectations. 'Rustom' minted 14.11 crores on its opening day while 'Mohenjo Daro' earned just Rs. 9.5 crores on its opening day. The three day collection of 'Rustom' and 'Mohenjo Daro' was Rs. 30.54 crores and 12.07 crores respectively.
Trade analyst Amod Mehra said, "Our film industry does not learn from earlier mistakes. This has once again proved that these clashes are not healthy for the business. As expected Rustom had a good start and by the audience reactions is set to be a big hit. On the other hand, though the buzz was low for the Hrithik Roshan-starrer the trade was shocked by the unimpressive and dull start. As the word of mouth is bad it will struggle and thanks to the string of holidays manage a full week' run."
